Pottery Barn swing shelf knock off

Eli's nursery is coming up very well. Yesterday I finished making this swing shelf; a Pottery Barn knock off. I love PB; the prices not so much, but they always have fun stuff like this.

My inspiration from Pottery Barn Kids

Here is what you need:

Drill driver

Shelf

1/4" Sisal rope

2 Robe hooks

I used my drill driver and this 1/2" flat bit with a double-spur design

Drill a hole in each corner of the shelf. The 1/2 holes worked perfect with my 1/4" rope

I cut out 2 ropes each measuring 20". Closer to the hook, I used a tiny sisal and tied it around several times. Then I put some wood glue on all the knots. It feels pretty sturdy and looks good.

This shelf costs $69. It cost me $11 to make. I had the shelf laying around, just got the rope and hooks

Small Study Table

I am back!! And I finally made a table to go with the chair here for Diana's play/study station for less than $10. She will be 3 in May and I want to enroll her into preschool; and I also want to have a designated place for her to read her books and do educational activities. She is in love with the idea already, she loves it more if we can all sit around this tiny table together..

Ok, this table was easy. I didn't have a plan to follow but I did figure it out by looking at my dinning table. I didnt have a kreg jig either to make pocket holes, so I thought it was going to be complicated, but it worked out ok. And I am really happy with it, its a perfect size for my daughter and its very sturdy:)

You will need:
2 wood studs 2x4x92 (cut 4 x 23" long table legs)
1 furring strip 1x2x8 (cut 16" long x 1 for center support)
3 furring strips 1x3x8 (cut 6 x 26" long table top) and (2 x 19" and 2 x 15" side support)     

Wood finish dark walnut 
Nails and screws (8x3)
Wood glue
Cutting tool, hammer and drill driver or what ever gets the job done

I decided to stain the table instead of painting it because I got lazy. I had the paint and everything but I just couldn't get myself to do it. Anyway, I really like how it turned out.

You can see all the detail, the wood grains and the nails/screws. It looks cute

The walnut stained table compliments the Chair very well.

She also loves her little Vteah tote and go laptop. Its for ages 3-6 and has 20 learning activities. We haven't tried them all but I like the ones we have tried; the numbers, words and alphabet ones.

Another successful project and that makes this mama happy:)

Distressed Children's Chair

I am very happy with this little project of mine. I have been looking for a chair for Diana and the ones I liked were really expensive. I came across this one here Ana White and I knew I had to try it. 

Total price $5 = my kind of price:)

I got all my supplies from Home depot
To obtain the distressed look, I used vaseline. I got the tutorial from Shanty-to-chic. It is awesome and very easy to do.
I stained just the edges of the chair like I did with the Christmas Wood Poster

Can't wait to make her a table next wee. I am excited!

DIY Night Stand

 

I made my first piece of furniture, a simple nightstand for Diana's room. I am feeling awesome right now. Her room is coming up wonderful (slowly but surely). The beddings, curtains, and some decor is all done. I still have her dresser to sand and paint, some pom poms to make, and make a storage box then we will be all done.
