Bird Mobile

We had a very Happy Christmas and we are excited for the New Year:)
And now I am also excited to get back to my projects. Maybe way too many but we will see how it goes:)
Diana is getting a new make over for her room. The theme is 'love birds' and the color scheme is light pink, hot pink, white and light grey..
So today I made her a bird mobile. She is a little too old for such stuff but I couldn't resist. It turned out really cute:) Its hanging right on top of her twin bed

 What you need:

* Birds from Hobby Lobby The birds come with tiny wires in the chest that I used to wrap them around the sticks
* Sticks - I picked them outside
* Eye bolts from Home Depot
* Transparent thread to attach the sticks to the eye bolt that goes into the ceiling

Diana's laughs

Since everyone has been sleeping for hours now (and its only 10pm), I'm not sure what happened because we normally go to bed at midnight. Not that I enjoy it, its only that Diana has no schedule whatsoever and we have decided that she hurts sleeping and so she keeps all of us awake except for Eli. Nothing will come between his feeding time and bed time:)

Anyway, I have been thinking about Diana and wanted to right down a few funny things she has said in the past year. She is just so funny, she makes us laugh so hard.
Here it goes
   - Mommy am cold, wrap me like a burrito (after taking a bath)
   - Mommy why is Eli eating you? (Eli nursing)
   - No, lets put jam on bread, butter is pretty disgusting
   - Mommy, do you know why ducks make me happy? No, why do they make you happy Diana? They make me happy because they QUACK  me up (We later learned that she got this joke from Mickey Mouse clubhouse)
   - She finds a picture of her dad and says, 'who is this?' Its me says dada, 'Oh no! what happened to you?' (there was nothing wrong with the picture maybe she thought differently)
      - We are watching the show Ants and the termites are attacking the ants and I say, ' wow, those termites are big. Then she says, 'just like you mommy.'
   - She is praying and say 'thank you mommy is a woman.'
   - 'Ok, am going for work now' where do you work? I asked. She responds, 'walmart and costco.'
   - While nursing Eli, my breast milk squirts on her face and she loves it, then she says 'mommy pee on me again.'

Daddy on the phone with Diana
Daddy - 'Diana you need to eat your lunch'
Diana - 'I did already, my muscles are big and strong.'
Daddy - Oh you are so cute Diana
Diana - 'Thanx daddy, you are cute and handsome too.'

Me nursing Eli
Diana -'what are you doing mommy?'
Mom - 'I am feeding Eli.'
Diana - 'Is he drinking milk from your belly?'

Happy laughs:)

Skirt + fleece Jacket

I finally managed to get a picture of Diana in her newly sown clothes - total cost $3.. Every time I mentioned taking a picture, she would say, 'not today, maybe tomorrow.' sassy little girl! while, today, tomorrow finally came:)

This was my old tunic, wore it a lot when I was pregnant with Diana. I cut the top part off. I used the bottom part, folded it in half and sewed the open end. I added some elastic and walla! This skirt was inspired by the jacket below. After I made the jacket, I realized that apart from Jeans, Diana didn't have any skirts to match it with..

The Fleece Jacket
Isn't she the cutest model? For $3 Diana got herself a cute outfit. The fleece fabric was on sale for $2.99 at Joanns. And of course I ripped off the buttons from an old sweater:) I can be very very thrifty and I love it.. The mustard jacket was fun to make. I am in love with the color. It took me forever because I really didn't know what I was doing but it got me excited to try it again. I learned so much:) I will make my own jacket in the near future.

Christmas Wood Poster

This was a fun project for me. I have seen these boards everywhere on Pinterest and I was dying to make one. It turned out pretty good and I am excited to do a few more in this ally:)

It was very easy to make but a little time consuming. At the end of making this, we had a lot of our furniture painted white because my little helper was very eager to help out in her own special way.

If you want to make one for yourself, here is what you will need:

  • 2 fence boards 5/8" X 3.5" X 60" each from Lowes (my new favorite store) and I had them cut the boards into 6 pieces for me. So each board was 20" long.
  • Harmer
  • Stain paint
  • Paint brush
  • Nails
  • White graphite paper (not shown in picture)
  • White acrylic paint
  • Small paint brush

1. I aligned my boards and fastened them with 2 boards and nails on the back as shown below

2. With the 2 boards on the back, my poster had a spine and it could stand

3. Here is the wood finish, I got dark walnut - used it for the first time and loved it.

4. I used the brush to paint at first but didn't like it. It was laying it darker than I wanted so I used a dish cloth to finish it off.

5. I just dipped the rug into the stain can and rubbed it onto the wood. I really liked the effects because I could see the grains of the wood better:)

6. Here is how it looks after its been painted with the rug

7. I don't have a picture, but next I used Microsoft word to type up my wordings, printed it on white regular paper and used my white graphite paper to trace my words onto the wood. You can get the graphite paper  from Hobby Lobby  (white for dark surfaces and black graphite paper for light surfaces)  really  awesome stuff! I'm excited to do a few more projects with it:)
After tracing, I hand painted all the words with a tiny brush and white paint.

Enjoy!
